Holly, if you check out the Wikipedia site, mackerel pike is the other name for the Pacific saury. I personally feel far more comfortable calling it sanma, though.Arudhihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02874429351297411042noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161866987759217870.post-68366177310649364302011-11-01T23:14:02.527+09:002011-11-01T23:14:02.527+09:00I am pretty bad in understanding fish names in Eng...I am pretty bad in understanding fish names in English. The deliciousness is somehow worth the effort of picking out the bones. やっぱり、秋といえばさんまの塩焼きですね^^ I can`t wait to see your sanma recipe!

Hyosun: Thanks for visiting! I love grilled saury so much that I ate too many these weeks and needed a different version for a change :)

Sissi: Hi, Sissi! Unless it`s salmon, or grilled, I tend to add lots of ginger when I cook fish as I found this help reduce the smell. But I think it also has something to do with my taste preference because I do love to have the gingery bits in the sauce.Arudhihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02874429351297411042noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6161866987759217870.post-51820854120422634062011-10-17T04:16:41.055+09:002011-10-17T04:16:41.055+09:00I wish I could find this fish but fresh (maybe I a...I wish I could find this fish but fresh (maybe I am even lucky to find it frozen! it's not popular here at all, only one Japanese shop sells it frozen). Your recipe sounds delicious and simple. I have never added ginger to teriyaki sauce, but it sounds like an excellent idea. Saury is popular fish in Korea too, and I love it. Your teriyaki version sounds really good. Luckily I got some fresh sanma from a local Japanese market so I was planning to cook it this weekend. Looking at your sanma makes my mouth water... I'm so happy to eat this. A lot of people don't like it because of too many bones...but the unique taste of this fish is very addicting!Nami | Just One Cookbookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17104033889937635168noreply@blogger.com
